Diamond abrasive filament is diamond grit fixed inside a nylon monofilament.
Each filament is an extruded PA612 nylon strand with diamond abrasive particles distributed along its body. When tufted into an abrasive brush and run against a stone surface, the exposed diamond grit does the cutting while the nylon body flexes and continuously presents fresh grit to the workpiece. This is why filament brushes keep a consistent grinding action over long runs instead of glazing over like a fixed resin wheel.
AbrasiveDiamond grit, from 24# coarse down to 240# fine.
MatrixNylon 612 (PA612), high wear resistance, low moisture uptake.
Diameter0.3 mm to 2.5 mm, matched to brush design and finish target.
How the cutting action works in practice
- Contact: the rotating brush presses filaments against the stone, and filament tips conform to surface unevenness.
- Abrasion: embedded diamond grit micro-cuts the stone surface, removing stock and smoothing the texture.
- Self-renewal: as the nylon wears back, new grit is uncovered, so cutting power stays stable without dressing.
