Silicon carbide abrasive filament is PA612 nylon loaded with sharp SiC grit that keeps re-exposing fresh cutting edges as it wears.
GrindX™ silicon carbide abrasive filament starts as a PA612 nylon monofilament into which silicon carbide grains are homogeneously loaded. The grains are angular and hard, so they bite into the workpiece immediately instead of rubbing it.
As the filament wears down during grinding, new grains are continuously exposed at the tip. This self-renewing cutting action is what keeps stock removal stable from the first minute to the last, without the performance drop you get from coated abrasives.
Where it is used
Typical applications include surface preparation before coating or bonding, aggressive deburring, descaling, and fast stock removal on stone, ceramics, glass, and non-ferrous metals. It is the standard choice wherever cutting speed matters more than ultimate filament lifespan.
